Keeping Unique Time for a Unique Life

The following post is sponsored by JORD. But the wrists and unique personality traits are all my own.

I’ve spent the better part of my life coming into my own. Now that I’m in my early thirties and carving out a life and lifestyle that speaks more wholly to who I am as an individual, I figured it’s due time I share a little bit about what some of what I’ve invested in to make all of this hard work, time and energy worthwhile.

Connecting with Comedy

*no chickens were harmed in the making of this photo. it's a rubber one, guys. chill.

Comedy has always spoken the loudest to me. It’s been the core of who I am for as long as I can remember, but I wasn’t always as unabashedly confident in my ability to bring a smile, a chuckle, or a full on guffaw into someone’s day. I will say that deciding to finally take the word of many friends and family members who were nagging me to start a YouTube channel was one of the most prominent game changers in my comedy confidence in more recent years. Sometimes I also channel my realtime, observational hilarity on Twitter. I think it’s working.

Savoring My Java

I’m obsessed with my iced chai tea lattes from Starbucks. It’s true. There’s nothing you could do or say to convince me to deny it. Though as I’ve settled more into a home of my own, here in Oklahoma City, I’ve come to quite enjoy not having to leave the house to enjoy a warm cup of coffee or tea. That’s not to say that that wasn’t an option before, but this former LA-girl wasn’t about to kick a daily habit until she realized it snows here leaving the house when it’s 20 degrees is not the most satisfying sensation. Not to mention my best friend got me this awesome coffee maker as a housewarming gift so…double whammy!

solving literal puzzles

Okay, okay. I admit that we’re starting to get into the elderly woman in a young lady’s body territory, but hear me out. Puzzles are damn relaxing. There’s something about losing all sense of time, solving shape puzzles, and completing a killer piece of visual wonder on your living room ottoman. I recently became obsessed with one company’s puzzle designs in particular and am building quite the impressive collection if I do say so myself.

Doing What I Love, And Often

Once I took the advice of peers and my parents, started that YouTube channel, and got the hang of the ins and outs of video production, I knew I wanted it to be a full-time job for me. I chose to leave a job that helped me to connect with my passion for storytelling through video and established (now with more intention!) my creative agency, Up Top Agency. I wake up every day now thrilled to tackle video projects for myself and my clients. Also…surprisingly relaxing. Are we seeing a theme here yet?

Making Things With My Hands

Last, but certainly not least, is how I have reignited my favorite, accidental hobby, crocheting. When I was diagnosed with Bipolar II and General Anxiety Disorder, the work I was putting in to better understand the bio-psycho-social, it was recommended for me to exert the physical build up of anxious energy by exploring a hobby that keeps my hands and mind focused on one thing. For me, that happened to be picking up a crochet hook and a skein of yarn. Because I’m not-so-secretly an old broad at heart. Getting lost in a throw blanket project or an infinity scarf has provided leaps and bounds for my mental focus. Allowing me more time to spend time with the activities and people I love most.

What I’m most thrilled for today is that my friends at JORD partnered with me to share my story about how I’ve made time for my unique life with the help, craftsmanship and beautiful design of their wood watches.

When it came time for me to choose which unique timepiece would fit well with the direction of the content I was looking to write, about relaxing into my quirky lifestyle, the Frankie Purpleheart & Plum was a no brainer. Because as we all know, Frankie says “Relax”. And it’s due time we start to listen to Frankie so he quits being cranky.

From the JORD website:

Minimalism has never equated to more. Create color in motion, a synchronized canvas of moments. Your time is your own. Find elegance with ease in the ultra slim case and enjoy the comfort of the straight line strap. The uncomplicated face allows focus, the streamlined shaping offers style. Wear time well with the Frankie Purpleheart & Plum.

Being totally frank(ie) with you? I have enjoyed every second of sharing this journey with you. And I can confidently speak for JORD that they’re happy too. I know it because they want me to grace one of you with a $100 e-gift card to apply to a timepiece purchase of your very own. There are so many options for men and for women.

Plus, I sort of feel like wristwatches are the TV & Radio of time-telling. And that’s just not cool, man. We need to listen to our wrists much more than we are these days.
