Urban Picnic Mini Event for hello there! house | June 10th

I couldn’t be more excited to start getting to know all of the potential hello there! house attendees. The best way to do that would, naturally, be to host monthly meet’n’greet events at fabulous shops & restaurants in the Phoenix Metro area. Duh. That being said, we’d love to have you join us for our first event scheduled for Friday, June 10th from 6p-8p at Urban Picnic in amazing downtown Mesa. Tickets are $10 and include an evening of delicious food, great company, make & take crafts, swagaliciousness (new word, use it.), and a little more information on our October 7th-8th event at The Center in Tempe. You can buy your ticket here, but hurry because there are only 20 available. UP is cozy, y’all.

I’ll also be giving out free hugs. You’re welcome.

frances vintage 5th anniversary & frances studio grand opening

Again with the insistence on not capitalizing when businesses don’t do it either.

I’ll be here on June 4th, mid-day to check out the amazing new frances studio and celebrate the fifth anniversary of the fabulous frances vintage.

hello there! house business cards

There’s this tendency I get whenever I’m writing about hello there! house where I refuse to capitalize all other words found in the same breath as the event name. I suppose we could chalk that up to my being quirky and all.

We got the first of our marketing materials this week from Ashlee’s Print Shoppe and Rosemary made them super cute using some Divine Twine (our newest addition to the sponsor pool for the conference).

Have questions on what the hell I’m talking about? Drop me a line, I’ll share the goodness.

In the meantime, ogle these babies:

Brett Dennen and A Bowl of Mini Wheats

If you haven’t caught the new album, Loverboy, by Brett Dennen, you need to catch it now. Current earworm: Track 3 (which also happens to be the cut that is the most current single off the record).

This bowl of mini wheats sums up the chaos in my mind today. Bland with a hint of sweet. I have been emotionally extreme today. One side of the spectrum or the other.

Must be my newly discovered disorder…

…the one that doesn’t define me.

What the hell am I doing?!

I guess a more appropriate title might have been what the hell am I not doing?!

As I’m always wont to do, my plate is full and overflowing in all the greatest of ways. The “greatest of ways” part is new to me. Usually I’m just overwhelmed and drowning in all the veggies that no one likes to take care of on their plate in the first place. But this time? This time my plate is rockin’ the brocc. Mmm, mmm, good.

On one side of it, I’m helping the dashing Rosemary with hello there! house | a home and garden event, set for this October 7th & 8th in Tempe. This event is based on educating the masses (capacity for the event is 60 so, um, yeah, you best get on that.) on their ability to transition to a more eco-conscious, self-sustainable lifestyle. Bee keeping and raising chickens and tons to do with your home & garden. Visit the site for all of the details as they unfold. We’ve got massive giggle bumps in our pants, fo sho.

In another corner of the ring, I’m helping build the momentum for the second annual Creative Estates conference in Arizona set for March 1-4, 2012 with Shey. This one is picking up steam pretty wicked fast and everything is snowballing into excitement and anxiety as there are some challenges, but nothing we can’t make into a total, in your face, success. That’s for damn sure. The conference is based on bringing together the online creative community into one space to feed off each others’ enthusiasm and grow as a whole unit. Success only comes from uplifting one another in a community, not competing for the win that has no reward.

With a lot of work-related things changing in the past couple of months, I’ve got Nugget home with me full time this summer before we start him in a more “full time” preschool this fall. I’m excited to see what it’s like to spend more time with my budding three year old. His isms and antics already have me rolling. Who knows what I’m in for now.

I’m still fighting with myself about writing The Post where I let you into my personal, mental health world. I want to share it with you and when I speak with close friends, it’s easy for me to proclaim that the illness doesn’t define me, but when I sit to type the words out, I feel the need to eat some Xanax. We see how this could possibly be counter productive and hilariously ironic, right?!

I’m off to eat some yogurt pretzels and drink a diet coke, because that’s what svelte people who ate their weight in sausage, cake pops, donuts, & CE Mac’n’Cheese all weekend do best. ::drool::

SheyB's Lemon Cake Balls

Pretty much the most ingenious idea Shey could have had for her birthday celebration dessert.

They taste just like lemon oh's.

Going, Going. Back, Back. To Calli, Calli.

A few months ago I was going to Monday night hip hop religiously. I stopped that. Now I’ve started again.

My friend Calli is the illest tall, blonde, white girl that can hip hop circles around anyone. Not to mention her choreography skills are uh-mazing.

See a video of my first time back here. Be gentle, it’s been a while. (I’m on the far right at the end…ehem)

hello there! house | a home & garden event

Rosemary had an amazing revelation, “Where are the home & garden events that aren’t built for grandmas and hippies?!”…

…okay so maybe that is just how I interpreted her idea to develop an event focused around home and garden. I mean, naturally I have to tear someone down in the process of assisting brilliance.

And so was born, hello there! house | a home & garden event, set for October 7th & 8th in Tempe, AZ at The Center (which is an amazeballs hidden treasure of a venue!)

Yesterday we launched the site and put the early bird tickets on the market; 30 full conference passes at $150 a pop while they last. Once they are gone, the price will hop to $225. I’d suggest getting your hot little hands on them sooner than later, y’know, urgently and stuff. And if that isn’t enticing enough for your pocketbook, head over to the blog to enter our kick off giveaway of a FREE full conference pass for spreading the word. Simple stuff really. Free no less.

Follow the Twitter antics and latest news on the conference. We’ll be announcing speakers, accommodations, classes, and the menu as they all develop. Use the hashtag #hellothere2011 to keep an eye on all of the attendee buzz, too.

While you are busy doing those things, Rosemary and I will be busy reacting like a cocker spaniel to the excitement. Lots of vomiting and piddling ourselves.

Dreams to reality, ladies & gents. Dreams to reality.

Mother of…

…me.

On this special day, there is not another person I could be more grateful for than my mother. She taught me how to be independent and above all else, to savor the traits that define my character. Without such a solid foundation, my ability to endure the trenches of motherhood would cease to manifest daily.

I love you mom. Today and always. Happiest of happy days.

Love,

Your foul-mouthed, tattooed, mother of a mother for a daughter

P.S. Thanks for your fridge and your hair.
