I'm ready, or terrified, or readily terrified...

I’m one of those things up there.

I’m ready to contribute to society again, traditionally.

You know, be one of those working women, ‘cept not the kind that walks on the streets with lipstick on her smooch pillows and a skirt that doubles as an almost-vagina-cover-er, but one that “wears pantyhose and takes orders from The Man.”

This isn’t a decision I’ve come to lightly or quickly or readily or confidently.

I’ve been out of the workforce game for a good three years now and it has been a bit of awesome and a bit of stressful but mostly a blessing. The ability I’ve had (and still have, nothing of this decision is stringent on my valiant corporate return) to stay home to rear Nugget has been nothing short of rainbows and unicorn farts mixed with poop smear and boogers. I’ve loved every second of it. I’m just…ready.

I’m lucky to have built a skill set before I became Mother of the Year, so experience is the least of my concerns in re-entering the world of paper filing, coffee getting, and cheery telephone answering. Now is the time I’m ready to take a fine toothed comb to the connections I’ve been able to establish in the past three years through social media to secure a position with an upstanding company I’ve come to know and love. To essentially apply my personal assisting skills, to, well, assist someone in a field of work in which I may not be so familiar. I’ve done radio and would LOVE to get back into radio. Finding someone with a need for a rusty rockstar who could still run the boards in her sleep is the tough part. Newsflash…radio is dying/dead. It was spiraling when I was in the realm of its awesomeness, but damn, was that ride fun! I love twirling and twirl I shall.

I recently applied for a position as assistant to a venture capitalist. You guys, I’ve been overly intrigued by investors for-ev-er. What better way to learn the ways of something you’re intrigued by than picking up their dry-cleaning and scheduling their trips to the Bahamas?! I’m totally weird that way. I’ll dote and tote until I’m blue in the face to get to know how a line of work operates. You’d be surprised how much that helps in GETTING JOBS.

So I’ve got a journey ahead of me. The ultimate balancing act of job-hunting and being present and stress-free for the fun stuff: family.

Hold me closer, Tony Danza.
