A series of unfortunate events.
First hand account of how completely screwed the billing and collections process is in the wicked world of American healthcare.
Exhibit A: (Please note the invoice Due Date)
Exhibit B: (Please note the angry collections tone in this notice)
But…
I present you Exhibit C: (Please note the date of the above presented threatening collections letter)

I kid you not this is surely why people in massive debt due to healthcare expenses never get out of them. I think I burst a vital blood vessel in my forehead from my raging disgust at the seeming incompetence of the person(s) in charge of this account.
Dates. Calendars. Common sense. We’ll go far ladies and gentleman. We’ll. Go. Far.
One of these things is too much like the other. Ehem.

Maybe since I'm a collector (and have been for a long time) I don't think it sounds so crazy. What were you ecpecting them to send you, a check and a plate of cookies?
5/21/10 8:59 PMSorry for disagreeing. I hate it when people do that on my blog. I'm a jerk.
@Lindsey
5/21/10 9:52 PMYou're not a jerk. You're on that side of it. I can respect that. What I also understand that a majority of those in healthcare debt intentionally do not pay their bills. I guess what I mean to be saying, that I'm doing such a poor ass job of is, I'm honest and paid the bill, so it's offensive to get collection letters dated before the bill is even past due. That is all. I xoxo you still.
Sounds like they've got an issue with your account and paperwork. That's annoying.
5/21/10 10:03 PMI worked in collections for 5 years and I think this is really poor customer service to send the collections notice before the bill is due. I would call and complain about it.
5/21/10 10:15 PMI would bite and throat punch them. Then I would lay into them like NO other... cuz I am mean like that.
5/23/10 1:37 PMThanks for reminding me I have to pay these damn bills from my "procedure." They were due the 18th.. Whoops.
5/24/10 5:27 PM@valpo
5/24/10 7:00 PMWhat?! You didn't get a nasty collections letter dated 5/18 for your past due bill that wasn't past due yet? Hmmm...conspiracy theory.
