I'm horrible

I've been keeping busy lately with work and playing with our now, very actively walking/running nugget, Dylan.

Here he is sleeping soundly (which now happens more rarely than ever):

On Saturday, Steve went to the McDowell Mountain Music Festival in North Scottsdale to see The Flaming Lips. He came home very hoarse and giddy like a school girl. I'm going to dare to venture out on a limb by saying he enjoyed himself. He'll vouch for that one.

While Steve was rocking his little hippie face off with those of his similar kind, I was down in Mesa for my friend Tiffany's baby shower. It was so good to see her. Ever since I stopped trekking 30 minutes each way to Mesa for Dance Adrenaline every Monday, I haven't seen her at all. It was nice to see Amanda, Danie, Liesl, and Katie as well. I love those girls. They've all got such great heads on their shoulders. :) After the baby shower, Dylan and I ventured over to Grammy & Popi's. The 12th was Melissa's birthday, the 19th Valeri's, and the 21st Greg's so we went to a month-of-April birthday dinner on Saturday evening. It was really good times. It was Valeri's 21st birthday so we naturally got her a mai tai.

Sunday was a REALLY fun day. Steve interviewed Matt Costa and we went to his show that evening at Martini Ranch. I remember now why I loathe going to any concert that is held at a Scottsdale bar...Scottsdale bar crowd. Horrible concert etiquette! It was nice to meet Chris, Matt's tour manager, he was a really nice fella. Matt was sort of cool too. Listen next Sunday to Sunday Morning Service on The Edge 103.9 to catch a couple exclusive tracks and a highly entertaining, unconventional interview.

This week holds many relaxing treasures in opposition of last week which was jam-packed and busy, busy, busy. I'm not going to make any promises, but I will attempt to keep the blog more frequently updated as well as brimming with photos of the three of us.

Quickly My Pretty

In a nutshell, Third Thursday went amazingly well. Lots of new experiences for Steve and Dylan sort of outlasted the two of us. Midnight Warrior, pictured above in the lovely Radin's hat.

I've got an 80s themed birthday party to trek to today with neon colored cake balls. I have an outfit that will surely be documented and posted. (Picture Olivia Newton-John in the Let's Get Physical video...but Olivia will have dark hair)

I must leave you now to shower and pre-dress myself to go over to Shannon's so we can get ready, ready together. Watch out!

P.S. It's National Record Store Day so go out and buy that album you've been pining over lately. Support the economy, support a local record vendor, and pleasure your ears with something beautiful. :)

Diddy

Dylan loves to watch TV from the steps lately. It's funny and weird all at the same time.

Popi is recovering from major invasive knee surgery and has started to do some physical therapy with his walker. Dylan decided to take it for a spin on Easter Sunday.

Easter 2009

Steve had an artist, Kevin from Two Guns, in the studio "lounge area" for the show on Easter Sunday. Dylan and I came by to get rid of the rest of my cheesecake bars (so I wouldn't get rid of them with my pie hole). They always take pictures of events so this gem was on The Edge's Facebook.

Totally a miniature Steve!!

Hope your Easter was as enjoyable, relaxing, and reflective as our family's was. :)

Substitute

While Grey's Anatomy isn't "all new" tonight, I will be watching In The Motherhood.

ABC is usually hit or miss. Sorry.

NBC is always funny to me.

I suppose that can be attributed to the fact that I was raised in a generation obsessed with Adam Sandler and Chris Farley movies.

Those were at least stupid humor.

Kids these days will be raised on Seth Rogan and Russell Brand (whom I find oddly attractive).

I, as an adult in my mid-twenties, find these movies funny for adults in their mid-twenties. Not so much for the youth of our universe.

Tonight's non-productive schedule consists of the following:

1. Do my typical daily 20 minute workout when Steve gets home from work.

2. Make some homemade chicken enchiladas for dinner. The former nugget (my almost 21-year-old younger sister) is coming over after work. Yay for guests!

3. Plop my lazy-A on the couch to watch The Office, Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock, and In The Motherhood.

4. Attempt to sleep.

For some reason I've been super, duper exhausted lately, but haven't been able to sleep worth beans. I've had all of these crazy ideas in my head lately (creatively) and my mind just can't seem to rest when I want/need it to. Luckily I haven't become a beast, too bad, for no apparent reason. I surely don't want that to happen.

I'm now going to do my darndest to get some VST work done. Wish me the luckiest of lucky.

Third Work Day Three Pics

I made vanilla cupcakes.

I went upstairs for two minutes to tinkle.

I returned to find someone devouring a vanilla cupcake on the kitchen floor.

I'm positive it was the irresistible aroma and unspoken deliciousness that pushed him to do it.

"Wasn't Dylan playing in his room?"

"I hear him I just don't know where he is."

"Found him!"

Uproarious laughter soon followed the discovery of Dylan, in his closet, in an empty diaper box, "reading" aloud.

I won't judge you if you pee a little in your pants.

Promise.

Devilish good looks.

And those lips.

Yowza!!

Click, Clank, Scrape, Metal-to-Metal Rubbing

I'm pleased he's willing to help unload the dishwasher, however I'd prefer if it weren't when the sharp butter knives are covered in meatloaf and unmentionable dinnertime debris.

Oh Dylan, it soothes me to hear the dishwasher begin to run when there are three utensils/dishes loaded and no soap to clean then with.

I'm surely not calling my baby fat, but heavy. He's heavier than the average two year old. Convinced that the engineers at GE designed dishwasher doors to hold 30 pounds of infant plus the weight of a <1 ounce Cascade dish detergent pouch and some JetDry.

Drastic events call for drastic measures.

Meet, Ghetto Dishwasher:

Your eyes doth not deceive.

That is our washer in the "locked & loaded" position and a strapping piece of dark grey duct tape strategically placed over the dishwasher dial.

You should see the blinds on our patio door...then again, maybe not.

Yah, what about it?

An over-abundance of recent blog stalking {much overdue by the way} has lead me to craft.

I know. You're shocked. Maybe in awe with your jaw dragging across the floor.

I've seen everywhere, that people are fabricating their own "cake stands".

Everywhere = Two complete strangers' blogs and Etsy.

I decided to try it out if the right tableware struck** me in the store.

**I'd like to reassure you, I was neither harmed nor struck by the above pictured tableware in the discovery of said pieces.

The fine French store, Target, offered the plate and bowl at $1.50 a piece since they were the last two on the shelves.

My trusty glue gun and 3 minutes later, I had myself a cake stand.

I'm so mod.

Oh my stomach!

I'm almost 100% positive about the following statement:

"If Satan had ovaries, I'm sure these are the eggs those suckers would produce."

The people at Whoppers/The Hershey Company should highly consider injecting the pink eggs with Pepto.

C'mon, save me a trip to my medicine chest.

Self-control is obviously out of the question.

Lauren got Dylan a bubble machine for Steve's birthday.

Reasoning: "I can't buy Stephen something and leave Dylan with no presents."

I took a picture a few days later and decided to edit it to death.

Death never looked so adorable.

**I know my trash can is ultra classy in the background.
Someone loves Puffs.

With his new teeth, he chews things very interestingly.

I managed to capture the boy mid-chew.

Priceless.

Please note the gigantic clod-hoppers (feet for you layman).

Yep, only {almost} 14 months old.

Two Concerts, One Week

All of the other pictures are pretty bad, mainly because it was so dark in the venues, but the above is Dylan at his first ever concert to see Mr. William Fitzsimmons. In other words, brilliance in the form of bearded man. Dylan was infatuated by the beard and the glasses. Luckily, he didn't tug or attempt to rip the glasses off the man.

William is one of the most gracious musicians EVER. There's no elitist persona or stand offish demeanor when it comes to this guy. He's always very genuine and that's hard to find, even among your close friends. Definitely check his music out here. You won't be disappointed.

His opener was Rosi Golan who's voice is so pure and solid. I was taken aback by her lyrical creativity. That powerful voice to support the lyrical genius doesn't fall too short of awesome either. You can check her out here.

Both of those musicians graced our ear drums with their passion on Tuesday night. Saturday night though, we went to see Brett Dennen. The ginger kid of all ginger kids. I love this guy. He's all about feel good music. I'm serious!

Check him out here.

And last but not least, here's an insider tip for all of you Joshua Radin and Meiko fans out there. The Edge 103.9 is bringing you the two of them for their Third Thursdays music event on April 16th. The kicker...the show's ABSOLUTELY FREE! Steve will be hosting with the man who's life I used to organize to the minute, Mr. Tim Virgin. Head to The Edge 103.9 for all the juicy details. :)
